Captain John Wright

As a ship’s master and marine superintendent, I have first-hand experience of dealing with the adverse consequences of fatal accidents. This forcefully brought home to me the importance of having an inclusive, proactive and company-wide safety culture, which more than fulfils the needs of retrospective legislation. My passion for safety is equalled by my desire for inclusive working practices to form the backbone of an organisation’s culture in the pursuit of business excellence.

Since founding WrightWay, our team has been delivering management and safety training courses as well as providing consultancy services worldwide for 15 years. Our clients are predominantly from the marine and oil industries, and include BC Ferries, the Carnival Cruise Corporation, V.Ships, BHP Billiton and Total Exploration & Drilling. The company has also worked for organisations in the pharmaceutical, aviation and construction sectors.

Our team’s specialist areas are workforce involvement, Crew Resource Management (human factors), ISM code compliance, safety and business culture change. Our highly trained and knowledgeable consultants are experts in their respective specialisations, yet possess the empathy and ability to recognise the applicability of their experience in diverse areas. These skills are used to support organisations in their quest for safe, accident free working environments where exemplary best practice lies at the core of all professional activity.

No worker should have to leave for work with doubts as to whether he or she will return intact to their loved ones. It is my passion, and WrightWay’s philosophy, that the pursuit of business excellence and safety are complementary activities.
