Training Needs Analysis
The principles of “Training Needs Analysis” are the establishment of new training frameworks, identifying any training deficiencies and recommending positive solutions. This can be achieved by using a structured and objective assessment with a valid and reliable audit trail of the decision making process.

ISM Code Application and Awareness
Using the team's extensive industry experience, WWTL helps clients to gain perspective and insight into the ISM Code requirements, ensuring the strength and capability of its safety management system. The result is more effective communication, improved information flow and enhanced safety and business performance. WWTL works with the client to develop an understanding of the SMS to ensure measurable and improved outputs.

WWTL assists the client to achieve effective SMS auditing and review for continuous improvement. This results in an improved focus on proactive safety management and prevention; prevention being both cheaper and more efficient than cure.

Company Auditing
In conducting an audit of a company's management systems, WWTL will help to determine that the policies and operating procedures are working to the benefit of all and not as a barrier to the goals and objectives that the company is trying to achieve. Any challenges arising from the audit will be discussed with senior management, and where necessary, changes to the current systems will be proposed. WWTL offers continuous support throughout and provides follow up auditing to ensure cost effective progress.

Part of this auditing process is to evaluate a client's risk management profile and ensure ALL sources of risk are included and reduced so far as reasonably practicable.

On Board Auditing
This consists of ship visits by WWTL to observe the crew at their place of work. Inter-departmental teamwork is monitored to measure how effectively the team, including the ship/shore interface, operates in different circumstances. Situations can develop very quickly, and the resolution of problems often depends on the effectiveness of the transfer of information from one team to another. This critical flow of information in a developing situation is vital to maintain overall situational awareness. A continuous learning programme or specific on board training can be developed as a direct output of any audit.

Individual Personal Assessment
Promotion often requires different skill sets and this assessment is designed to establish whether these are in place. The “Management for Success” psychometric questionnaire provides a personal self-assessment and measures an individual's abilities, behaviours and skills that are necessary to be effective. It also provides a broad understanding of an individual's work style and how the individual fits within an organisation. Responses are analysed by our psychologist and where necessary a self-help programme is designed for the individual, with support and advice offered throughout.

Note : All delegates of our Leadership & Management training course complete this personal and confidential assessment. The self-assessment process can be followed by the observation of an individual’s practical ability in simulated shipboard conditions. Behaviours and actions are then tied to the results of the psychometric questionnaire. WWTL uses full mission simulators to assess delegates. This assessment programme assists a company in its employment and promotion process.
