Human Performance (CRM) training is offered to clients in the UK by WrightWay Training Limited in conjunction with one of our partner organisations. However, the course can be conducted at overseas training establishments with suitable simulation facilities.
The course concentrates on the attitudes and behaviours of individuals and their impact on safety. It provides the opportunity for individuals to examine their own behaviour and to make individual decisions on how to improve their teamwork.
Human Performance Training originated in aviation and has subsequently been introduced to a range of other safety critical industries. However the principles of Human Performance are applicable in all business and working environments.
When focussed on the shipping industry, ‘Human Performance' training provides ship's officers and their company managers with an insight into their working behaviours, practices and attitudes and thereafter encourages them to discover for themselves which ‘human factors' they need to modify to improve upon their company's safety record.
Having created a clear understanding of the natural limitations that exist within their management team, delegates are provided with ‘human factors' tools to manage the identified limitations.
Human Performance training will improve business performance through effective safety management and should therefore constitute an integral part of any company management strategy.
It is a five-day course designed principally for ship's officers and company managers. However the principles are applicable in all business and working environments.
It is modular and will be tailored to suit the requirements of the individual client requirements.
The theoretical aspects of the course can be conducted in 3 days. This does mean that delegates will forego the valuable time in the marine simulator where classroom theory is turned into effective working practices.
The course fulfils training requirements as laid down by STCW '95, OCIMF and TMSA regarding ‘crew resource management'.
- "The course should assist in better understanding of crew behaviour and formulating ways and means for better utilisation of resources and increasing efficiency".
- "Initially I thought the course would have been of no benefit but I have been proved wrong. I feel I have learned about myself and other people with whom I work".
- "I think the course has been well worth attending. As you mentioned the course will never change personalities but I feel that it can and will change a persons' attitude and I hope this can be transmitted to our work environment".
- "This course has given me an understanding of the different styles of management and the importance of team synergy".
- "We are achieving an overall company improvement with office staff attending with the sea staff"
